FUNSAR was great! Even if you never go out on a search which I doubt, why else would you be here. This class definitely boots your self confidence. If ever in the woods or camping you will know how to survive if you get lost. This course is a must even for hikers. The best part of it was Eric''s confidence in us after we graduated. Four days after graduation he called my team Port Richmond C.E.R.T. out to help him on a search. He proved what faith he dedication he had in our team.

I want to Thank Eric and his Team.

Eric and his team pushed us to our limits. But I didn''t realize how much faith he had in us. He called out Port Richmond Cert 4 days after finishing funsar. Wow my first search only four days in. What a boost in confidence. Thankyou Eric and his team for believing in us.

Many thanks to Eric, Dan and the crew for ·exceeding our comfort level· and proving to the members of Port Richmond CERT and Rescue what we truly can accomplish as a team.

The FUNSAR class was likely one of the most challenging achievements my mind and body had endured in quite some time. The sense of accomplishment in hearing the words ·congratulations SARTECH II· is hard to describe. Thank you all... I look forward to returning for more challenges!

I come to the table from the animal rescue side and cannot say thank you enough for the training I have received and will continue to work through.

There are people who teach and then there are those you learn from: Eric is a person you learn from. You listen, you learn, you do, you remember. They don''t come much better than that.

Thanks again, and I''m looking forward to continuing my training with the experts.

I was once told that ·personality counts for a lot·. On top of their vast knowledge and experience, Eric and Dan have personality. Their personalities carry the class and enable the students to learn without becoming bored. I enjoyed both the ISAR class and the FUNSAR class and I look forward to more classes in the future do you have a class on pronunciation? ; .
I hate driving in New Jersey, but I'll do it to take a class at OTE.

I keep wondering about wandering with my compass,

I have known Eric Martin since we went to paramedic school together in 1985.

I can attest that any program Eric runs is top notch. If you are looking for specialized training in technical rescue, look no further.

Over the Edge has what you need.

Good luck and keep up the good work Eric.

We had a great time with Eric, Dan, and Jon during our FUNSAR class. We learned an incredible amount from the three of you; which we then had to prove a few weeks later when you returned to administer our SARTECH II test. That was a very memorable experience that we enjoy reliving as a team. We are hoping that what you ·took· from us is being enjoyed in a prominent place on your wall *wink . John and I are still interested in hearing more about your survival class too. I'm not eating any bugs!

I can not thank Eric, Dan, and Jon enough for their patience, and confidence they have given to all the members of our team. You guys gave us so much knowledge in such a compacted time frame. Your ability to teach in such a fun atmosphere was refreshing. I left the FUNSAR class with much more knowledge - and a much better ·positive mental attitude· then when we began. The experience of taking my SAR TECH II test with the rest of W.D.S.A.R. will always be remembered. Hope to have you guys back soon teaching us something new...Thanks so much again, Sabrina

Eric, Dan, Jon & the entire staff,

I just wanted to say thank you for the exciting weekend of FUNSAR! The challenges kept my mind and body working constantly without ever feeling the effects of carrying my pack. A friend of mine asked me how the weekend was, so I thought for a moment and realized that it was probably one of the most rewarding weekends that I could remember!

Thanks again

If you are serious about SAR, taking any classes you can from Eric Martin and the Over the Edge team is a must. I am a high school teacher and have had many instructors throughout my education and I will tell you that Eric is probably the best teacher I have ever had. You WILL learn from Eric and his team. Along with the classroom instruction, the practical elements of the course are phenomenal - from compass navigation to the mock search and staying in your shelter afterward. The experience is invaluable to anyone that wants to be a credible member of the SAR community. Thank you Eric, Jess, Jon, and Dan as well as all those involved in the mock search for a great learning experience.

Eric, Some were around five years ago, my boss told me to put a First Aid Squad together. Not being happy with the American Red Cross trainig I started looking for some one else to train my
group of First Aiders. With the exemption of myself most of the group could put a band-aid on and that was about all. Well since than thanks to you and your staff we are certified in CPR,Administering Oxygen, taking Blood Pressure and have a well rounded knowlage of basic first aid.The levels of First Aid that you have taking us to have been rewarding. Thanks again for sharing all your knowledge and PENITENCE with us. Eric,

I just wanted to thank you personally for the time and effort invested in training the First Response Team here at G&W. The growth among team members during the last two years has been significant, and could not have been realized without your commitment and expertise.

Personally, I have become more cognizant of the importance of the knowledge you have imparted, and have gained first-hand experience that speaks directly to the benefits of having been trained by an expert. I hope that this company realizes and acknowledges the benefit of maintaining a working relationship with your organization, and that our leadership will continue to invest in training that protects its most important asset: Its people.

Keep up the good work.

Hi Eric, Dan & Jon. The FUNSAR class Jun 04 was one of the best classes of any kind I've ever taken. I haven't been involved in SAR for very long, and this was my first SAR class. I think your FUNSAR course is a ·must do· for anyone thinking about or just begining in SAR. I had an awesome time on our overnight. The mock search was realistic, the classroom time was very, very informative, and the romp in the swamp was priceless!! Can't wait to see the pictures.

The knowledge you've given me and the skills I've learned from you will be with me for the rest of my life. Thank you!!!
I'll see you again sometime I'm sure!!

Lectures and hands on, fun stuff and serious business, overnight shelters, sloshing through a pond, awesome navigation course, great students, and terrific instructors. Cannot wait for the next class available. I sure hope the pictures will turn out. LOL

Hey guys, hope this message finds you well. I just wanted to write what I had told you before in person. Classes are only as good as the instructors, and the students in them. Luckily, we had both of the best. Your'e passion and drive for this subject definitely came across in your'e teaching. The class was very challenging, and I think everyone including me came out of that last weekend with a new found knowledge and appreciation for search and rescue. Stay Safe, keep up the great work!!!

Hi Eric, Dan and Jon...the best meal I have ever eaten was tea and dry toast that was served to me after 36 hours of labour with one of my sons! The bed that I appreciated the most in my life was my bed last night! Thank you for reminding me to appreciate the most important, simple parts of life. Again I can only repeat what I felt after the last class...you are a wonderfully motivating teacher Eric, probably the best I have ever had in my life and although yesterday wasn't the most physically exhausted I have ever been in my life it is certainly the most physically and mentally challenging experience of my life...and I loved expanding my comfort zone! Thank you so much for all your help, let me know when the SAR II course is... I will need to start practising my knots a few weeks in advance! All the best, Dianne

Besides these testimonials and an exuberant urge to register, there's no other way to convince you to take an OTE course other than finding out for yourself that this is not your typical dull course of sitting and copying lecture notes. Real hands-on experience, even at this introductory level, and an entertaining teacher keep you on edge. The lessons and encouragment are worth the time, worth the price, and worth the effort.

Eric,
You run Over The Edge training in a way that
builds confidence and your experience with it was
apparent throughout the entire weekend. Besides the introduction to search and rescue techniques, I learned that your team works with fairness despite the challenges with evolving standards. It's refreshing to see a group that won't compromise this veracious principle. Most important to me, your seriously fun attitude made all the difference between just learning something and doing something with it.

I hope to see you in another course very soon.

Thanks!
Anjal

We recently participated in a SAR Tech II test w/ Over the Edge proctors and wanted to thank Eric Martin & Over the Edge for the outstanding job they did hosting and administering this test. Eric Martin, and his staff were extremely knowledgeable, professional, and personable and helped make the test experience a positive one. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and graciously accommodated last-minute needs. It was a pleasure to work with them and to take the SAR Tech II test under such a wonderful group of proctors. We'd highly recommend Over the Edge to anyone who needs training or NASAR SAR Tech testing!

I wanted to thank you for providing the Confined Space Awareness program at the Plainfield Campus of Union County College on September 22, 2003. At the end I was so enthused I turned around and signed up for there next course. You will not be disappointed!
