G402 Incident Command System (ICS) Overview for Executives/Senior Officials
Description
The complexity of incident management, coupled with the growing need for multi-agency and multi-functional involvement on incidents, has increased the need for a single standard incident management system that can be used by all emergency response disciplines. Use of the Incident Command System by public safety and private sector organizations across the country is increasing. ICS is now being used for a variety of applications including:
- Fires (structural and wildland)
- Hazardous Materials Incidents
- Law enforcement operations
- Search and Rescue missions
- Air, ground and water accidents
- Multi-casualty incidents
- Natural disasters e.g., tornadoes
- Planned events, e.g., parades
Incident Command System (ICS) Overview for Executives/Senior Officials, is an ICS orientation for executives, administrators, and policy makers. It provides a basic understanding of ICS, Unified and Area Command, and Multi-agency coordination to those persons responsible for setting or implementing policy, but who normally are not part of the on-scene ICS organization. The module also discusses responsibilities and information transfer between agency executives and incident commanders. An Executive Briefing is available to use when time does not permit the use of the full module.
