On Wednesday, March 2, 2005 Eric Martin and Over the Edge, Inc. attended an award ceremony for the NYC Urban Park Service. We were extremely honored to be among honored guests and distinguished award recipients.

We at Over the Edge support the men and women of our armed services, placing their lives in harms way while protecting our country. We wish them a safe and swift return home!
NJSP HAZMAT : Level 1 Awareness (4 hrs)

NJSP HAZMAT - Level 1 Awareness

Description
First Responders at the awareness level are individuals who are likely to witness or discover a hazardous substance release and who have been trained to initiate an emergency response sequence by notifying the proper authorities of the release. They would take no further action beyond notifying the authorities of the release.

At the completion of the activity the participants will be able to:

  • Have an understanding of what hazardous materials (substances) are, and the risks associated with them in an incident
  • Have an understanding of the potential outcomes associated with an emergency created when hazardous materials are present
  • Have the ability to recognize the presence of hazardous materials in an emergency
  • Have the ability to identify the hazardous materials, if possible
  • Have an understanding of the role of the first responder awareness individual in the employer's emergency response plan including site security and control and the U.S. Department of Transportation's Emergency Guidebook
  • Have the ability to realize the need for additional resources, and to make appropriate notifications to the communication center
There are no formal prerequisites for this course.

Attention EMS Personnel:

Upon completion of this course you will be eligible for (4) elective CEU credits from the New Jersey Dept. of Health - Office of Emergency Services NJDOH OEMS.
