On Wednesday, March 2, 2005 Eric Martin and Over the Edge, Inc. attended an award ceremony for the NYC Urban Park Service. We were extremely honored to be among honored guests and distinguished award recipients.

We at Over the Edge support the men and women of our armed services, placing their lives in harms way while protecting our country. We wish them a safe and swift return home!
Trench Rescue Awareness (3.5 hrs)

Objectives - The participant will understand the importance of personal safety during trench accidents. The lecture will also address hazards associated with trenches and their effects on the victims of these incidents. The overall intent of this program is to provide a better understanding of extraordinary risks, mechanism of injuries and treatment during these incidents and improve interaction between the private sector and public safety groups during response to these incidents.

Topics include:
  • Identify characteristics of a trench
  • Identify hazards associated with trench incidents
  • Understand OSHA's requirements for making a trench safe
  • Identify situations that can cause entrapments
  • Classify various types of soil
  • Provide personal and scene safety
  • Properly activate the EAP
  • Understand the use of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Be familiar with medical considerations caused by trench accidents

Hours: 3.5

Attention EMS Personnel:

Upon completion of this course you will be eligible for (3.5) elective CEU credits from the New Jersey Dept. of Health - Office of Emergency Services NJDOH OEMS.
