"In many ways, the Urban Park Service Search and Rescue Team (SAR) owes its origins to Eric Martin and his technical rescue training company, Over the Edge Inc. It was Over the Edge that provided the team with the fundamental training every search and rescue team needs, including Fundamentals of Search & Rescue, Basic Rope Rigging & Rescue, and SARTECH II. However, Mr. Martin's influence extends beyond basic training; the UPS team considers him a mentor. Mr. Martin has provided countless hours of technical support, observed the team during drills, and given them the kind of assistance every new SAR team needs to be a success. That is why Eric Martin and Over the Edge embody the mission and values of the Urban Park Service."
